B*****S DON’T KNOW ABOUT MY PALM PRE^[1]

Apparently they are putting their webOS client on the back burner. I canceled my premium subscription. They can have my money when they support my preferred platform.

They are using the merger with HP as an excuse not to even fix the version they have. They want to “wait to see what happens with the platform“.

I will tell you what will happen to the platform right now. It will kick ass and take names.

Woot, woot! Let the insanity begin my friends. Expect many posts to Flickr.

I was up at 2 am with an upset stomach. So I decided to have an herbal tea and code. 2 hours later I feel a bit better and I solved my interface issue I as having with my shopping/errands application. Ta-da!

I’m debating whether I should bother going to sleep or not. I should probably at least lay down for a bit.

I have another application idea where I can re-use a lot of the code from Initiative. I’ve “mastered” the list and custom dialogs. So I’m moving on to Is It Open?. This application is another list widget, but will require database storage too. I’m planning on building it without the database storage first. While I was building Initiative, I changed list item model a lot. Once I’m happy with the models without permanent storage, I will then work on saving them to a database.

I submitted Initiative version 0.5.0 to the Beta feeds of the Palm App catalog. Its a simple initiative tracker for gaming. My apps will be submitted under the name Roots Up Development, hopefully there will be many more to come.

It would appear that you can’t easily put two widget in a list widget item. The model for the list and its sub-widgets are shared. Most widget have the attribute “value” so if you put two widgets only one value is honored. So I think I need to move the editing of the entries to a dialog or another scene and leave the list for “display” only.

This is my first submission so I’m really excited! The portal says it went through but it doesn’t seem like its available quite yet. I will update this post with the link when its live.

I find that “warming” drinks that have ginger or cinnamon are wonderful in the morning. So I got the idea to stretch my DoubleShot this morning by mixing it with Cardamom & Cinnamon tea.

Specifically:

1. Fill 1/3 of the mug with hot water
2. Drop in the tea bag to brew
3. Fill the rest of the mug with the double shot

I drank this and ate some cashew clusters. Its was a lovely breakfast.

Sorry guys. I want to wait for the Crypto libs to come to the SDK. RTM requires MD5. Also, I think I can crank out this GPS app in the faster.

To set your default browser, go to ‘Settings’ > ‘System Settings’ in the KDE Menu.

The second row, ‘Personal’, has an icon for ‘Default Applications,’ select that one.

In the left hand list select ‘Web Browser.’

Select ‘in the following browser’ and do not use the ‘…’ selector

Instead type the exact path to your browser followed by a space.

/usr/bin/firefox 

Otherwise, KDE will attempt to cache the web page in /var/tmp/kdecache-<yourusername> and then open it in your browser of choice. Even worse, KDE never clears this cache.
